25 Things I’ve Learnt This Year

Hey everyone! In August, it was my birthday and I turned 25 (hey fellow Virgos!). I celebrated my birthday in the best way: with lots of food, family time and exploring. It filled UP my cup and I had a well-deserved break from my day job and my blog work. It was heaven.

In this post, I’m listing 25 things I learnt this year. 2020 was tough but as I entered 2021, I learnt some vital lessons I want to share with you today. I believe everything we’re guided we can cope with. Failure is never a failure, it’s a change in direction and a lesson learned.

From March 2021 onwards, my life took a very QUICK TURN and before I knew it, everything had changed forever. I broke away from a relationship, I changed career pathways, I got a new dog, I bought a new car and everything was turned upside down. At that time, I couldn’t see a way out but now… I’m happy, I’m healthy and I knew why this all needed to happen. There’s always light at the end of the tunnel and eventually, everything we’re going through will make sense one day. I promise💗.

Sooooo, let’s get to my 25 HIT LIST, shall we! Whilst you’re reading, see if you gain anything and if you do – DM me or comment below, I’d love to know.

25 Things I’ve Learnt This Year

1. It’s better to be single than be in a half-ass relationship.
2. Setting boundaries is necessary for all areas of life.
3. Don’t underestimate the power of seeking help.
4. Sometimes, you’ve just got to take the risk to find out.
5. Flirting is great. Have fun, be kind and be safe.
6. Life is too short – so make the most of every moment.
7. Never hold back your feelings – be honest and if it’s too much for someone, they’re not for you.
8. You’ll never be ‘too’ much of anything for the right person.
9. Walking outside is incredible for your mental health.
10. Biscoff biscuit spread is bloody game-changing.
11. Food is fuel and it’s to be enjoyed.
12. Your friendships should fill UP your cup, not drain it.
13. Nothing is worth sacrificing your mental health for.
14. Dogs are heart healers.
15. Letting go and forgiving someone is the most empowering thing. It doesn’t mean you forgive what they did but it means it no longer weighs you down.
16. Reading is wonderful escapism.
17. Doing things at your own pace will ease the anxiety you have.
18. If you think you would like someone more if they ‘did this’ or ‘did that’ they’re not meant for you. We shouldn’t require anyone to change.
19. Pushing yourself in the gym is AMAZING but so is taking necessary rest.
20. Change is never a bad thing – so try not to fear it.
21. Refine your digital landscape – it should represent how you want to feel – motivated, inspired and uplifted.
22. Moving your body is nonnegotiable – get up.
23. Saying no to sh*t you hate is very rewarding.
24. You’re exactly where you need to be at this moment.
25. You’re perfect and whole the way you are. You don’t need validation from others. Everything will be ok and you’ll continue to grow🌱.

Anything you could relate with? Anything you’d like to add? Let me know!

These are 25 vital reminders and I’ll be remembering them for years to come. I wonder what my 25th year will bring – I’m hoping for health, happiness and lots of gratitude. Whatever this year throws at me, I’ll tackle it head-on and remind myself I can cope – just like you.

All my love,

Jessica xx
