Blackcurrant Porridge with Caramelised Apples

Hey everyone!

I am back and this week I am talking all things porridge and caramelised apples. This recipe has kept me fuelled throughout the cooler days here in the UK and it’s helped me feel 10x better when I am feeling 1 degree under.

Whether you like your porridge hot or cold, this porridge can be eaten either way and it makes the perfect meal prep option. Of course, porridge is extremely versatile and offers some incredible nutritional benefits. Oats are loaded with important vitamins, minerals and antioxidant plant compounds that our bodies crave. So they make the perfect breakfast. I love topping my bowls of porridge with fruit, nuts and a good drizzle of honey. Cinnamon, coconut flakes, peanut butter and dried fruits all work amazingly well too! Experiment with your favourite toppings and you’ll be surprised at how delicious a bowl of porridge can be.

With this porridge recipe, I have collaborated with Real Handful… A brand I have followed since day one and their snacks continue to blow my mind, they’re so delicious! I topped my blackcurrant porridge with one of the fruit, nut and seed mixes from Real Handful. Each one of their snack packets offers a different boost of flavour and they certainly don’t disappoint. For this recipe, I used the Blackcurrant Blast: ‘A sweet & sharp blast of raw almonds, blackcurrants, apple-infused raisins, sliced apple and a sprinkle of sunflower seeds makes for the perfect blend of nutritious goodness’ – the perfect topping for my blackcurrant porridge!

For a boost of added protein, you could stir in 1 scoop of protein powder – vanilla flavour would work particularly well with this recipe. 


Remember, your body deserves delicious food and healthy fuel. A comforting and healthy breakfast can work wonders if you’re feeling low on energy. As humans, we require adequate fuel to perform at our greatest. Don’t neglect food as a primary source of energy – brain fuel, physical fuel and mental fuel.

Not many people are a huge fan of waking up in the morning… SO, make it easier by giving yourself something to look forward… Breakfast!
