Hey everyone! This week I am introducing you to the all-natural, award-winning, vegan, holistic beauty brand Urban Veda. Healing, cruelty-free and packed full of plant vitamins, this beauty brand has some incredible products which I need to share with you! No matter your skin type, they have something which will soothe, heal and brighten your skin.

My personal journey with skincare has been trial and error and if I am honest, I have never truly been satisfied with the appearance of my skin. When I was a teenager, I struggled with acne – this was mainly on my T zone, my back and my chest. I felt incredibly insecure and I tried everything to eliminate it. As my hormones changed and I altered my diet, I saw amazing results with the contribution of the pill.

However, as I begin to get older, my skin needs some extra TLC. I may not have acne anymore but my skin experiences a lot of stress. I work out a lot, I commute around London a lot and I travel a lot. For many years, I have trialled different brands and I have never been truly satisfied with the results (if any). I eat a balanced diet rich in vitamins and minerals and I try to stay as hydrated as possible… Both of which have helped with the appearance of my skin massively. Despite this, I have always wanted a good skincare routine that leaves my skin feeling soothed and revived.

When it comes to skincare I have always kept things very simple. I have always used E45 as a cleanser, Sudocrem for blemishes and spots and 100% natural coconut oil as a body moisturiser. My skin is incredibly sensitive and it’s always a little risky experimenting. I also don’t wear much makeup because it makes my skin feel suffocated. I stick to a light tinted moisturiser, a bronzer, a blusher and some mascara. Occasionally, I will wear a little bit of eyeshadow too but I am definitely not an expert. This leads me to the base of my skin and how Urban Veda has transformed the way I do my skincare routine…

“Let your skin breathe”

The Urban Veda range has been created using natural ingredients and the principles of Ayurveda in a relevant way for 21st-century skincare. Every day we come into contact with negative energies which affect our skins appearance and health. Central heating, cold or hot weather, dirt, sweat, stress, pollution… They all take a knock on effect and Urban Veda has created skincare which will act as a shield to ‘pollution proof’ skin.

If you’re unsure about what ‘Ayurveda’ means, then in simple terms: ‘Ayurveda’ is derived from the Sanskrit ‘Ayur’ meaning ‘life’ and ‘Veda’ meaning ‘wisdom’. In the principles of Ayurvedic medicine, there are three main body types known as ‘doshas’, these are Vata, Pitta and Kapha. These ‘doshas’ express everything about us from our skin type and physical characteristics, to our health and personality traits. After taking a short quiz on the Urban Veda website, you are then guided to the correct products which will seamlessly complement your characteristics, health and personality traits in line with your ‘dosha’.

‘Naturally formulated using Ayurvedic herbs, flowers and fruits, combined with multi-vitamins and clinically proven actives, Urban Veda helps to maintain skin’s natural balance by infusing it with Omega-rich bio-oils, free radical-fighting antioxidants and vitality-boosting essential fatty acids’.

‘The central concept of this Ayurvedic skincare approach is to maintain your dosha’s natural balance, helping to keep skin in optimum health’.

My Dosha

I took the quiz online and it revealed that I was the Pitta Dosha. Pitta is ruled by the element fire. In a state of balance, Pitta has attributes such as charisma, focus and intelligence. However, if they are out of balance, they can become irritable and have a ‘hot’ temper (very true!).

Pitta skin tends to be fair and sensitive, and the heat that Pitta can generate in the body is generally indicated by moles, rosacea, rashes, acne and a tendency to burn in the sun easily. Pitta skin needs cooling and nurturing and a soothing skincare regime’. Learning about the doshas is incredible! And I do believe that the Pitta Dosha is directly aligned with who I am. My skin has varied throughout the years but I have always had sensitive skin that’s clogged, tired and warm.

From the questionnaire findings, I have been using the ‘Soothing’ Pitta range. This range is infused with balancing sandalwood, healing geranium, soothing lavender and harmonising ylang-ylang. This is the perfect blend to soothe skin but it is also instantly calming and relaxing. If you’re someone who struggles with stressed skin but also feels the effects of anxiety, this range is for you.

I must add some amazing things about the Urban Veda products:

✔️ Packaging for the products is recyclable and their bottles are made out of post-consumer recycled plastic.

✔️ Their products are free from Genetically Modified ingredients, NO parabens, NO artificial colours AND NO Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS).

✔️ All of their products are certified as ‘vegan’ by the Vegetarian Society. As a holistic brand, they will never test on animals.

As soon as I opened the products, I was overwhelmed by the scent released. Calming, comforting and incredibly revitalising. For many years, I have searched for skincare that has numerous benefits. Not only for the skin but for my mental wellbeing too. This range has soothed many ‘bad skin’ days but it has also soothed me in the evening when I have felt a little overwhelmed. The soothing lavender in the products is the perfect post-bath companion; relaxing and the perfect blend to help you unwind after a manic day.

I don’t have a favourite from this collection, they’re all my favourite! From the Daily Soothing Facial Wash to the Soothing Body Lotion. They have all saved my skin. From the skin on my face to the skin on my legs, relieving stress, smoothing out my skin complexion and simply infusing my skin with some natural love and attention. I count my blessings for being able to collaborate with a brand like this. I know you won’t be disappointed if you try out their products, they’re super special!

The creams in this collection instantly soothe the skin and absorb into the skin very quickly, leaving no greasy residue behind. Allowing makeup or fake tan to apply evenly and perfectly over the top. Many creams usually cause me to breakout and can clog my pores, however, these have left my skin feeling enriched!

As a side note, these creams contain no SPF… So be sure to have extra SPF applied. All of the creams are now staples in my skincare regime alongside 100% natural coconut oil (sourced from Planet Organic). I have also used the day cream in the evening if I have wanted something lighter on my skin – so experiment and see what works for you!

The Soothing Exfoliating Facial Polish is the perfect skin companion if you want to reveal fresher looking skin and remove toxins. This product balances and de-stresses skin naturally with a ‘mildly abrasive exfoliant of pumice stone’. I then follow this up with the Soothing Hydrating Toner, this hydrates the skin and balances the pH of the skin, this DOES NOT leave your skin feeling tight but it does leave it feeling fresh and clean. I then apply an appropriate cream depending on the time (day or night). I cannot live without these products!

Soothing, healing and heartwarming. A skincare range that not only looks after your skin, but it’s also incredibly healing too. Treat yourself or your friend, have a pamper and relax in the best way.

These items were gifted to me by Urban Veda who I am a brand ambassador for. I have been testing out these products for 3 months and I wanted to test them out properly before writing a review for my blog. I am still using the products and I wouldn’t look back. They have really helped me and I love everything about Urban Veda.

If you’re new to skincare or you’re looking to switch things up and go vegan-friendly, then I highly recommend you try out some Urban Veda products.

If you have any questions, please let me know and it would be my pleasure to help you. All of my opinions are 100% my own.
