My Top 4 Favourite Chocolate Treats

Hey everyone! Yes, that’s right, I am a #healthblogger but I adore chocolate. It brings pleasure, yumminess and yeah, it’s something I definitely haven’t given up on. Although I lead a healthy life; both mentally and physically, I still make sure that my life is full of happiness, laughter, good food and memory making.

Fitness and eating well enhance my life, they aren’t my whole life and they certainly don’t dictate my choices. For me to have balance and a healthy relationship with food, I don’t eliminate anything from my life. I enjoy food, I LOVE FOOD!!!! I eat foods that provide my body with nutrients and goodness and then I will also enjoy some soul foods. Life is for living, food is to be enjoyed, your body is here to be nurtured and you should take pride in looking after yourself, from the inside, out.

Since discovering my love for food and cooking, it has helped me so much. We are here once, on this crazy planet, embrace every moment, eat that piece of cake if it makes you feel good, move your body more, eat some more nutrients and laugh until your stomach hurts. Food is a wonderful thing and it should be celebrated. I love writing posts about recipes, new snacks I have discovered and restaurant reviews; because I am a passionate foodie!

This week’s post is all about my love for my new chocolate snacks. Some are slightly higher in sugar… However, all of these snacks are eaten in moderation and are enjoyed as part of my healthy lifestyle. These snacks are good for on-the-go!

BOUNCE Protein Energy Bites in Cacao Orange Flavour

Chocolate orange – I am sold. I adore this flavour combination and when it’s packed full of goodness, I am one happy person! This snack is perfect for mid-afternoon or sprinkled over porridge, smoothies or chopped with some nuts and dried fruit as part of a trail mix. Calories aren’t something I ever look at, the ingredient list is something I take a glance at when making the decision with a snack. These little morsels of goodness are packed full of chocolate and they melt in your mouth with a gorgeous cup of tea.

Although these little bites are made using whey protein, they aren’t powdery, they aren’t artificial in flavouring and they aren’t dry. They’re really yummy! They remind me of chocolate truffles; indulgent in texture and extremely satisfying. All of this has been achieved without artificial colours, flavours, preservatives or refined sugars. Super Treats – THE BEST CHOCOLATE

Yes, the obsession continues, if you have followed me for a while, you will be familiar with my obsession with this brand. Not only is their chocolate dreamy for me, my 7-year-old niece loves this too! Child-friendly and adult friendly, what more could you want…

Although, sharing my chocolate is never an option… Supertreats is a carob based bar which tastes JUST LIKE ordinary milk chocolate but contains no refined sugar and no caffeine or theobromine. Chocolate Milk

 My Inner 7 Year Old is Very Happy! 

If you’re like me, you adored chocolate milk when you were younger, however, after one glass, you would be climbing the walls and be supercharged on processed sugar. Except in this new favourite of mine, there is no milk! This drink is full of oats; oats containing protein, carbs and a little fat too. Warm, cold, whichever you prefer, this chocolate oat drink is heavenly and you wouldn’t even know it wasn’t milk. I adore this over granola, cooked into my oatmeal or heated up and accompanied with a cookie. Creamy, thick, silky and extremely indulgent but vegetarian and vegan-friendly too! No milk and no soy but still SO delicious. I am a complete convert and it is now an evening and morning staple for me. 

If dairy products bloat you, then don’t worry. This shouldn’t! With the base of blended oats, this drink is extremely wholesome and an awesome source of energy. Check out their page for more flavours! But chocolate has to be my favourite.

Also, my 7-year-old self would have been so happy with this product! They now have their own set of mini carton drinks for the little ones… Or for you, if you love the chocolate milk that much!

Jim Jams Chocolate Spread

This is an Award Winning Hazelnut Chocolate Spread and is SugarWise certified. This may be lower in sugar than your usual chocolate spread, but there is no compromise on the flavour, texture or yumminess! This is delicious on top of banana bread, mixed into oats or stirred into hot milk; it’s the winning element of any chocolate dish and it’s extremely indulgent. If you’re looking to make a simple swap from Nutella, this would be an easier option.

I also love using this in baking! I stir it into my banana bread, I dollop it into my cookie recipes and I also add this to chia seed pudding. It’s very versatile and adds richness to all dishes.
