The Three Things I Learnt When I Was In Rome & Rome Accommodation

the three things i learnt in rome.jpg

Happy Wednesday everyone! This week’s blog post is a reflective one. It is time to re-cap on my adventures in Rome and discuss what it taught me – Check out my previous blog post for a full image gallery of my trip away – Jessica Explores Rome. Whenever I travel somewhere new I want to learn something new, I want to gain a new skill and I wanted to create memories. Travelling is something that gives me life, it fills my heart with ambition and it makes me incredibly happy. We live on a planet that is FULL of exciting opportunities, it is up to ‘us’ to go out there and find them. Pursue them and capture them.

I am extremely grateful to have been able to travel abroad and across the UK several times. Every time I have explored somewhere new I have gained something. Whether I have gained positivity, gained a smile or I gained something that changed my whole perception on things. I have always been thankful and have thanked the universe for supplying such amazing opportunities. I truly believe that travelling broadens the mind; sometimes we are guilty and can become creatures of habit and stick to our usual routine. Doing something out of our comfort zone seems daunting but it is always worth it in the long-run. I have previously written a blog post all about my opinion on travelling and how I truly believe it does broaden the mind – Travelling Broadens The Mind.

When I visited Rome I was overwhelmed by the hub of culture, art, design and food. There are COUNTLESS historical landmarks across Rome and they are not to be missed. Rome can be done on foot and every single landmark is joined by connecting historical streets. Exploring Rome on foot was the perfect opportunity to explore hidden gems, meet new people and discover the true side of Rome from the locals viewpoint. You simply cannot get bored in Rome. Their atmosphere is electric, their entertainment is captivating and their arts, food and picturesque views are something to rave about.

Museums, cathedrals, gardens, restaurants, hidden alcoves and of course, much much more, Rome will tick the boxes for everyone. Are you a foodie? Are you a football lover? Are you a travelling explorer? Tick off your to-do list by taking an adventure around Rome.

“With nearly 3000 years of rich culture, this Roman city is overflowing with history and things to do. Visit the grand Sistine Chapel with the work of Michelangelo’s impressive artwork, explore the incredible Colosseum, once used for gladiator battles, executions and plays of mythology, or hop between the many Vatican museums and indulge in ancient culture”. – ClickStay

Immerse yourself in rich culture and history of Rome and admire the architecture that surrounds the romantic city. Rome continues to evolve but the beauty never fades, it only ever becomes more eternal and real.

What Did I learn In Rome?

To Embrace Your Surroundings & Live In The Moment

Whenever you visit somewhere new, take a moment to breathe and capture the memories with your eyes, not your camera, not your phone and not your recorder. Put social media to one side and consider capturing memories for yourself. Not for any social media channel or for your ‘followers’. Appreciate the surroundings for YOU. Sometimes, we may only be able to visit a place ONCE in our lifetime. Don’t waste time capturing images. Images can be lost, they can be stolen and they can become poor quality. Memories never fade, they just continue to produce everlasting positivity and happiness. Memories last forever. Appreciate and embrace your surroundings before capturing them for material memories.

Embrace Change

Whenever you visit somewhere new embrace the culture, embrace the city/country and embrace everything around. We may visit a place and become completely out of comfort zone, it may make us realise certain aspects of our life and it may create ‘change’. We may return to our current ‘lifestyle’ and create ‘change’. We may choose to quit our job because our travel experience revealed our hidden passions, we may choose to view ‘challenges’ in a different light because we was faced with other people’s reality and theirs were much worse than ours. We may choose to take a huge step forward and ‘leave the negativity’ behind because we realise that life is for living and it is to be enjoyed. Embrace change. Sometimes we are taken away from our ‘lifestyle’ to relax, unwind and detox. When we are in a relaxed state I truly believe that we think better as individuals and we can re-evaluate our current situations and are in better place to accept change and create change. Change happens all of the time, without it there would be no progress.

Team Work Creates Solid Foundations

Work as a team. If you are travelling abroad with a companion, with a team of people or by yourself, stand by yourself, stand by your team and stand by your companion. If you travel alone be in contact with your inner self, be wise, be strong and embrace every moment. Don’t be scared. If you are travelling with more people; work together, pick each other up and make sure that no weaknesses occur within the team. I and my boyfriend have struggled in the past with teamwork, but the more we travel together the more we learn. We are both evolving as individuals and we are both becoming aware of the importance of teamwork. Admire your team members, admire the people that pick-you-up and admire the people that explore these amazing places with you. Make memories, laugh often and remember to unleash your inner explorer. Stay safe, always be wise and ALWAYS be thankful and positive.

Thanks for commenting! Rome is a MUST SEE. It is wonderful and I hope to return. An apartment is a great way to experience Italian life and to experience how the ‘locals’ do it. Also, when the apartments are this gorgeous you can’t say no!
