Positively Jessica – How To Stay Positive

“Happiness is a choice, your choice”

Being positive can sometimes be very challenging when faced with an obstacle. However, no matter how awful a situation may seem there is always a positive element in the dark cloud. Seems impossible? But just wait until the loneliness, upset, heartbreak, loss, grief, inner pain and despair slowly starts to become something magical, you will soon realise that these obstacles have to happen in order to help you move on in your journey and progress further and closer to your goals.

Although being faced with several obstacles throughout my lifetime so far I have always tried to not talk about them because I believe that other people are going through much worse. However, this is very kind but this means that thoughts, feelings and emotions build up inside and begin to eat away at you. Destroying you and making you feel ashamed to speak up. Speaking about how you feel is extremely important in order to start fresh, feel refreshed and have a clear mind to tackle day-to-day life. Writing your problems down, emailing them to a friend, speaking over the phone, writing them on a word document and never looking at them again are all things I have tried over and over again & all of which have helped me. Getting things off your chest sooner rather than later helps you get one step closer to the next step in your pathway. What is the point in wasting time?

The people you surround yourself with can also make an impact on how positive you are mentally and physically. If I surround myself with people who have goals and ambitions they motivate me to progress further. I want to surround myself with people who make me laugh and bring the best out in me, even the things I didn’t know about myself. Easier said than done, I know.

Sometimes, surrounding yourself with people in your workplace (as an example) who work extremely hard and have targets to meet at work help motivate you to get tasks done and work harder, not as a competition more as motivation.

When I am at university I surround myself with people who work hard, in order to motivate me. I love all my friends there, they are all lovely and I am so happy I have had the chance to meet them all. University is such a beautiful opportunity to meet new people, people who all have goals, ambitions and targets! Which are the people you should surround yourself with in order to feel one step closer to becoming more positive. We all have our problems but we all helped each other and that’s what makes us all like a big university family. Why surround yourself with negative people? Help them with their state of mind but don’t exhaust yourself in the process.

My niece is also adorable (featured on the blog image^) and she makes me feel so happy inside, helping her learn makes me feel a sense of accomplishment and as if I have a purpose. She a true spirit and is going to grow up to be a beautiful lady. She has a funky personality and she supports me every step of the way…  Even though being 5 years old!

Having time alone and de-cluttering are also good tips on how to stay positive! Spending some time alone allows you truly get to know what you enjoy and what you want out of life. I stand by this.

De-cluttering mentally and physically is also important to help de-clutter your thought processes.

Mentally can be deleting the toxic people in your life, writing to-do lists so they don’t linger in your mind or clicking a mental “positive switch on” whenever somebody wants to bring you down or an obstacle arises. The “positive switch” is a marvellous tool and can be used as a brick wall method, helping to block any negative thoughts from people or blocking any negative connections towards a challenging obstacle, remember challenges and obstacles make you who you are. They are special, like you.

Physically can be de-cluttering your bedroom or house, it’s proven that having a clutter free space allows you to have a clutter free mind (this is something I like to do every month – de-clutter my space), sell old clothes, donate to charity and revamp your living space in order to feel fresh and have a new approach each month.

Only have things in your living space which inspire you, make you feel happy, make you feel content or loved – anything that reminds you of a bad memory should be taken down (even if it looks pretty! It still brings you down every time you look at it) and “it” should be replaced with something that has clarity, to help you feel calm and collective.

“Sometimes, we need to be hurt in order to grow. We must lose in order to gain. Sometimes, some lessons are learned best through pain.”

 

All of these tips are easier said than done when you are in that situation but believe me I know. Do whatever makes you happy, life is far too short. Also…. I purchased a Nutribullet the other day and I am so excited to experiment with different recipes and create some yummy treats, all of which I will post here on my blog. Watch this space! Very soon!
