Start Your Day – With A Good Read, A Cup of Tea and A Work-Out
“So many years of education yet no one ever taught us to love ourselves and why it’s so important.”
A Good Read – After months of searching high and low for a good book to read and after a simple recommendation from a friend I am now hooked. Sometimes when you don’t have the confidence to face your problems head so it is good to escape for 10 minutes in a book, sometimes I have caught myself reading for up to 45minutes at a time and completely immersing myself into the imaginary world of the story. Sometimes our problems can’t be faced head on, in fact, time is all part of the healing process. This could be physically or mentally. Time heals and sometimes when you are in that ‘dark place’ you truly cannot see the light at the end of the dark tunnel. You don’t think anything can truly heal the pain or loneliness when in fact you’re wrong. TIME is the biggest healer and does not cost anything… Apart from your patience.
The book I am currently reading is ‘Eat Pray Love’ (Elizabeth Gilbert.) – ‘One Woman’s Search for Everything.’ This book is about a woman who has everything you could dream of but doesn’t want any of it, she is depressed and wants to find a way out. She begins her travels and finds herself. Throughout the whole of this book, different problems emerge and every single problem can be related towards. When reading this, you feel part of her emotional process. This book has helped me not feel alone (as strange as that may seem) and makes me realise that a lot of people have faced similar problems to me. Taking 10 minutes out of your day to read a book, magazine or journal is a perfect way to relax and forget about current obstacles.
A Cup Of Tea – A warm drink when you are feeling low is the perfect solution to any problem accompanied by a sweet treat. Sometimes are problems seemed so huge but when we sit back and realise all the beautiful things that surround us (that money cannot buy) it overrules any problem, which arises.
Having a positive attitude towards any situation is sometimes impossible. Ever feel like when you are just about to get back up and start again something else goes wrong? Well, I truly believe these hard steps in life are positioned there to see if you are truly strong enough to step onto the next level of your chosen pathway… Every difficult obstacle you have overcome has added more supplies onto your belt, allowing you to be strong and have double the ammunition.
My favourite tea this month has been the Three Cinnamon from pukka – Indian, Indonesian and Vietnamese Cinnamon. A warming and sweet blend of beautiful flavours, perfect to start and end your day.
Work Out – Sometimes finding the motivation to workout seems like a huge obstacle in itself without even considering the workout. Burning up a sweat and setting goals is also a good way of feeling accomplishment and achievement elsewhere. I use the gym to help me relax and offload for 45 to 60minutes. The gym is the place I choose to unwind and truly take myself to somewhere I am mentally happy.
Don’t ever put yourself through something you don’t truly enjoy through your heart. I love the gym but sometimes I have to mix up the routine or exercises so that I enjoy it as well as keeping my muscles guessing, but I truly believe it is all about the enjoyment factor first. Workout classes, a 20-minute jog, stretching and taking the dog for a walk are all just samples of ways you can unwind and mentally take yourself somewhere else. Enjoy the time alone or take a friend with you, whichever makes you truly happy – do it. Working out should be a moment in the day where you are happy and look forward to it, having a positive mental attitude towards your workout will result in an amazing outcome. Don’t dread it, the results will be amazing!
When reading the book by Elizabeth Gilbert, I have come across a lot of different quotes, which have made me realise a lot of different things. However, this quote particularly stood out to me this week as it is an easy mind set to follow. The quotes opens your eyes to appreciating and loving everything around you without holding hatred in your heart. Hold love within your heart as it shines through, hatred dims your inner light.
“You must keep your feet grounded so firmly on the earth that it’s like you have four legs, instead of two. That way, you can stay in the world. But you must stop looking at the world through your head. You must look through your heart, instead. That way you will know God.” Elizabeth Gilbert.
